How to Set up Internet Access on a New Windows Computer

Hello., Here we take Windows OP as an example, and please make sure that your Ethernet Adapter is working well. lets talk about How to Set up Internet Access on a New Windows Computer.

How to Set up Internet Access on a New Windows Computer


Steps:-

1.) Accessing via company lease line - Admin only allow certain staffs to access Internet.

  • If you are one of them and your PC is not set up, seek Admin help.

2.) Setup on XP - 

  • At the bottom right, look for icon Local Area Connection(LAC).

  • Double click on it. Under header LAN or High-Speed Internet.
  • Double click the LAC showing "Connected". 
  • Then click button Properties
  • In tab General, look inside list box for "Internet Protocol(TCP/IP)",double click it. 
  • This pops up a form. Key in the details provided by your Admin here. 
  • Notice the field Default gateway? This IP is important to grant access to Internet. That's it! Open your browser and test out.

3.) Setup on Vista - 

  • At bottom right of screen, look for icon Currently connected to.Click it and select "Connect or Disconnect..".

  • Choose "Setup a connection or Network"
  • Then select "Connect to the Internet"
  • Create a New connection.If you are using dial-up,key in the username,password you submitted during application and the phone number given by the service provider
  • Some dial up will be billed together with your phone & other need to deposit amount before use.

4.) Accessing via Broadband on Mobile (BOM) - 

  • BOM is a small portable USB(universal serial bus) device with SIM card that dials your service provider to grant access to Internet. '

  • For first timer, just plug into your PC & a drive is created (see in windows explorer). Assuming your PC is set to detect plug&play device, an installation screen will pops up from the BOM device to setup necessary files on your PC
  • Once done, click the BOM icon to bring up dialing screen. Click connect. There should be some lights (red,blue,green etc) on your device to denote connectivity..
