How to Recover Lost Data

Data recovery is the process of retrieving lost, deleted or inaccessible data from failed electronic storage media such as computer hard disk drives, removable media, optical devices and tape cartridges.

Your data can become inaccessible due to a software problem, computer virus, mechanical or electrical malfunction or a deliberate human act.

Here I choose Data Recovery Wizard for example.

Steps:-

1.) Launch the software, and choose a module according to the reason for data loss (deletion/format/partotion loss).

How to Recover Lost Data

"Deleted File Recovery" is for deletion recovery, "Complete Recovery" is for format recovery, and "Partition Recovery" is for JPG/JPEG/PNG recovery when partition is lost or corrupt.

2.) Choose the volume where there were lost data and click "NEXT" to start searching, then you will see a list of volumes where data loss possibly happens.

After that, Data Recovery Wizard will allow you to choose 6 volumes at best to recover. And then, press "NEXT" button, it will launch the "Building Directory" procedure to search the files. You will see file/folder tree very soon.

3.) Choose and preview the lost data that you want to recover and press the "Next" button. And then select a directory and press the "NEXT" button to save the recovered data.

Tips:-

  • If the hard disk is physically healthy, data recovery software will save our precious time without privacy leak. If the hard disk is broken, just send it to the data recovery service center, they can help us.

  • Always backup our important data for use.

  • Data loss is one of Information Technology industry's most misunderstood concepts. Very little information has been made public about data loss, and the information that does exist is inconsistent. Due to the mixed messages they receive, users find it difficult to properly evaluate their data loss situations and make educated decisions to recover from them. Most lost data is not lost at all; it has simply become inaccessible to the user. Hundreds of thousands of gigabytes (GB) of data have been lost simply because users were not aware of their options and gave up hope of recovery.

  • Data is not really lost when it can not be seen. Don't panic! there are a variety of resources at your disposal for getting your data back!

  • Do not write any data into the hard disk or partition where data loss happened.

  • If software recovery is unsuccessful, consider sending your device to a professional data recovery company. These companies have labs with experienced technicians using specialized equipment to recover data off of any digital storage device.

Warnings:-

  • Tips are also warnings, the first rule is "Do Not Write Data into Hard Disk or Partition Where Data Loss Happened!"
  • In the case of any malfunctioning storage device, beware of the risks associated with trying to recover the data yourself; you are likely do to more harm than good if the exact problem has not been determined.
  • Data recovery software is only useful for recovering recently deleted files or partitions. If a device is malfunctioning due to physical damage or internal malfunctions, recovery software will NOT work.
