If you are moving to a new Gmail or Google Apps account, you can easily copy all the existing email messages from the old account to the new email address using the built-in Mail Fetcher program of Gmail.
The Mail Fetcher program, available for both Gmail and Google Apps for Gmail accounts, will download messages from the old account and copy them over to your new Google account using POP access. It will import old email messages that already exist in your account and also any new messages that arrive after you have set up the Mail Fetcher.
This method is only for transferring the entire email account to another address.
HOW TO COPY EMAILS TO ANOTHER GMAIL ADDRESS
1. In your new email account, go to Gmail Settings, click Accounts and then click Add a POP3 mail account you own under the setting Check mail from other accounts (using POP3).
2. In the pop-up window, enter the full email address of your old Gmail account. You can enter a @gmail.com address or any other email address that you own. Click Next.
3. In the next step, enter the username and the password of your old Gmail account. Enable the settings “Leave a copy of retrieved messages on the server” and “Label incoming messages” to easily identify emails fetched from the old address.
If you have turned-on 2-factor authentication for your old Gmail address, you may have to generate a app-specific password that you can generate from your Google Account’s security page.
Click the “Add Account” button and Gmail will immediately start copying your old messages to your new email address. The process may take a while to complete based the size of your mailbox.
COPY EMAILS FROM GOOGLE APPS TO A GMAIL ADDRESS
If you are moving messags from an @gmail.com address to @yourcompany.com address (hosted on Google Apps), the steps for Mail Fetcher are mostly the same except that in Step 3, you need to enter the following values:
Incoming Mail (POP3) Server: pop.gmail.com (Port: 995)
Username: your email address (username@your_domain.com)
Password: your Gmail password (Google Apps)
Click the Add Account button to and Gmail will automatically fetch old and new messages from the old Google Apps address to your new Gmail Address.
