1. Open Gmail and click the Settings button.

4. If the Vacation Responder is off, then check the box "Vacation Responder on."

6. Enter the subject, for example, "Vacation."
7. In the next box, enter a preset message which you wish for those contacting your inbox to see. An example of such could be "I'm on Vacation. Be back soon."
8. If you wish for the Vacation Responder to only respond to those in your contact list, check the box denoting such.
9. Click the "Save Changes" button when you are done. You have now activated the Vacation Responder for use as specified.
Warnings
- Be sure to either deactivate or set the Automatic Vacation Responder to deactivate at the end of its usage.
