Backup Box has re-branded and is now called mover Dropbox
and Box are two different online cloud storage services. Moving files
between cloud storage services is a little inconvenient, but by using a
website called Mover, there is a much easier way that will save you time
and effort.
Steps
1. Use a tool called Mover.
This is a website that was built entirely to help people transfer files between different services.
2. Quickly create an account by entering your preferred email and password.
3. You will need to add and authorize your Dropbox account by choosing the "Select Source" and "+New" buttons.
4. After choosing the Dropbox icon you will need to give it a friendly name.
After that you will be prompted to allow Mover authorization to access your Dropbox account.
5. Choose the directory containing the files you want to transfer.
You can also transfer your root. This will transfer the chosen directory and everything within it.
6. You will now need to repeat the process by adding Box as your destination.
Choose "Select Destination" and "+New" to add a new Box connector.
7. After choosing the Box icon and giving it a friendly name, you will be prompted to allow Mover authorization to access your files.
8. Now you want to choose your destination directory.
This is where all your files will be transferred to. You can create a new folder using the Mover UI if you need to or just choose the root.
9. It's time to set your transfer in motion!
Review everything to make sure your settings are correct. Then finalize the transfer by using the buttons on the bottom of the screen. You will be given a prompt to accept the transfer, and once you agree, the files will start to move.
10. You can also schedule this transfer to happen automatically, simply hit 'Schedule This' instead of 'Transfer Now'.
Tips
- Be sure to have enough space to receive your files. If you run out of disk space, the transfer will fail.
- To make your files smaller, click 'Archive'. This will compress your database.
- You'll need patience. The size of the files being transferred will affect the speed of the transfer.
